Holiday vibes begin at home. Read on for tips to make your life easier so you can enjoy what matters the most to you at this time of year. *disclaimer 😉 I do not take credit for actually doing these tips, but I sure enjoy the results of them at my house!
1. Start Early: Make a list of the tasks you wish to complete, and prioritize them. Then create a schedule that allows you to check everything off your list in the timeline you set for yourself (if you do run out of time, at least you’ll complete the most important tasks).
2. Make Room For The New: Clean out the fridge, freezer and pantry. Organize drawers and shelves, plan pre-holiday meals around what you have on hand, and discard anything that is old or expired.
3. Downsize The Toys: Consider giving toys that are outgrown and no longer played with away, so other children can enjoy them like your kids have. Involve the whole family and enjoy the process.
4. Love The Kitchen: Since guests tend to gather where the hosts are, it makes sense that this room gets your attention. You'll want the cupboards stocked with essentials, and clear work spaces. Pay attention to the oven and dishwasher, both of which see lots of use during the holidays.
5. Menu Plan: Create a menu plan well in advance of the holidays. Post a master grocery list on the fridge and start checking items off during your weekly shopping trips. This will spread the cost over time and prevent last minute impulse shopping (tip: each week, pick up an extra item for the food bank so you can drop off a hamper for the holidays).
6. Pare Down The Decorations: If you haven't used a decoration in a few years, consider donating it for someone else to enjoy. Let go of what you no longer enjoy, and toss anything broken or damaged.
7. Keep Your Calendar Lean: In addition to maintaining your health and energy throughout the holidays, this also frees up time to enjoy the experiences that matter the most to you.
